Wellington Accommodation
Gilmer Apartment Hotel

Gilmer Apartment Hotel provides a great accommodation option for leisure guests, as well as corporate clients who need to be in Wellington. We offer serviced apartment accommodation that is conveniently located in central Wellington.

Our reception hours are 8am to 6pm on weekdays and 9am to 5pm on weekends and public holidays.  Full instructions are provided for accessing the property during your stay outside of these hours.

Parking is $25 per night when booked directly with Gilmer Apartment Hotel. Car parks are located along the side of the Gilmer Apartment Hotel building. We recommend booking these when you book your room.

Gilmer Apartment Hotel provides complimentary access to Habit, health and Fitness Facility. Habit has a pool, spa, sauna and steam room. The facility is available for the duration of your stay. Use is subject to Habit's terms and conditions and is restricted to guests 18 years and over.

Conference facilities are located within 20 metres of Gilmer Apartment Hotel, and can be arranged on request. For more information about conference facilities please contact us directly.

All rooms have an in house washing machine and dryer facilities. Additionally, a dry cleaning pick-up service is provided by Mansfield Dry-cleaning. Please bring your clothing items to reception the night prior to be collected and returned the following day. Service only available Monday - Friday.

oven

Your kitchenette contains two electric hobs, extraction fan, small refrigerator, microwave, cooking pots, pan, utensils, crockery, toaster and jug. We ask that you refrain from cooking fragrant or odorous foods in your room kitchenette.

The Team at Gilmer Apartment Hotel have always taken great pride in the hygiene standards of the Hotel. Due to the recent worldwide health concerns we have implemented more rigorous and preventative cleaning practices to ensure the safety of our guests

Our Environmental and Sustainable focus

The Team at Gilmer Apartment Hotel work hard to look after our environment. We are always working on new ways to operate in a more sustainable manner. These initiatives include introducing recycling bins into our guests rooms and encouraging our guests to recycle, using bio-degradable rubbish bags. Using larger format room amenities and toilet paper that does not come in plastic packaging. We are members of the Hotel Weka recycling program to re-purpose the large format amenity bottles, these are reprocessed and turned into building materials. We are actively sourcing more sustainable and environmentally friendly practices throughout the Hotel.

 

Ear Plugs

Ear plugs are free of charge and are located in the bedside table drawer.


Photocopying and Scanning

If you require documents photocopied, printed or scanned during your stay, we are happy to assist at no extra charge (limited numbers and black and white copy only).


Housekeeping

Hotel Apartments are serviced daily by our housekeepers, generally between 10am and 4pm. On occasion servicing occurs outside of these times. If you are a long term guest you will receive a weekly service.

Our housekeepers will not completely service an apartment, where personal (guest) items obstruct them from completing their tasks.

Please contact reception if you have any specific requirements relating to servicing your apartment.

If you do not wish for your apartment to be serviced - please hang the ‘Do not disturb’ sign on the outside of your door.

Please note that placing the ‘Do not disturb’ sign on your door at any time during the day will result in your apartment NOT being serviced that day. If you do put your do not disturb sign out for a short period but still wish for your apartment to be serviced that day please call reception to advise.

Our receptionists are all familiar with Wellington attractions and are happy to provide suggestions and help you book tours, etc.


Lost Property Returns

Lost property - while every effort will be made to try to locate any lost property, Gilmer Apartment Hotel takes no responsibility for your personal items.

If you leave personal belongings in your apartment, please contact us and we will bag them ready for collection.

If you are from out of the area, please post us a post-paid, self-addressed envelope or bag to fit your belongings and we will post them back to you. Gilmer can arrange return postage for an additional fee.

For health and safety reasons any perishable goods are disposed of on the day of departure.


Luggage

We are happy to hold your luggage at no charge. Luggage must be collected prior to reception closing – i.e. 6pm on weekdays or 5pm on weekends and public holidays. If luggage collection is requested outside of reception hours additional fees will apply.


Maps and directions

Upon check-in you will be offered a map of Wellington City and a note of directions for accessing Lambton Quay and The Terrace. Please don’t hesitate to ask our friendly receptionists if you need other directions.


Newspapers

A limited number of Dominion Post newspapers are available in the lobby area (free of charge) please help yourself.


Taxi

Please ask our staff to call a Wellington Combined Taxis for your trip to Wellington Airport. We have special agreed rates to the Airport, Ferry Terminals and Railway.

Wake-up calls

Please arrange wake-up calls with reception. This service is free of charge. Please ensure you check that the phone in your room is plugged in and the ringer is turned on before you go to bed. Our after-hours service will call back three times if a wake-up call is not answered. They will then try an alternative number if one has been provided to reception. If the call is still unanswered they will contact a Gilmer Apartment Hotel staff member to investigate. Please note that if a staff member is called in to assist outside of reception hours a charge of $50 will be added to your account.

 


Gymnasium – Habit Majestic Health and Fitness Club

Gilmer Apartment Hotel provides guests complimentary day pass access to the Habit Majestic Gym. This is a health and fitness facility. It includes a pool, spa, sauna, and steam room. Habit is located at the bottom of Boulcott Street in the Majestic Centre – approx. 5 min walk from the hotel. Please do not take hotel linen to the gym, Habit will provide fresh towels on arrival. Ask our helpful staff for the quickest way to get to the gym. Day passes are available at reception for the duration of your stay.
Please note this is not a play pool and is only available to guests above the age of 18. Use is subject to Habit Health and Fitness’s own terms and conditions.

Car Parking                  

The cost of parking is $25.00 per night if your booking was made direct through the hotel’s own website www.10gilmer.co.nz. Parking space is only guaranteed if booked and confirmed.
Car park users are issued with a parking coupon which must be displayed at all times on the dashboard (facing up so it is visible from the outside of the car)
Failure to display a coupon may result in your vehicle being towed away without notice and incur tow fees of approximately $200-$400 plus any other costs involved in retrieval.  
Car parks are located along the side of the Gilmer Apartment Hotel building.
There are two Car parking garages located on Gilmer Terrace. Prices are per hour during the day. Overnight rates are available, please take note of what time they are valid until.
Parking is at your own risk and management accept no responsibility for damages and or losses that may occur to your vehicle whilst using our parking facility.

Please ensure your vehicle is locked and you do not leave valuables in your vehicle.


Laundry

Your room includes a washer/dryer combo. Please follow the instruction sheet located on top of the unit. Please note the in-room washer dryers are for small loads of washing and an additional dry cycle may be required to completely dry clothes so please allow time for this.
Always wait at least two minutes after the cycle has finished before attempting to open the door.
We have a laundry room available for guest use which is perfect if you have large loads and heavy clothing items that require washing.  Located on the Ground floor in the Facilities room. It contains coin-operated, commercial washer and dryers.

Internet Services

Each apartment has access to complimentary wireless internet for up to eight separate devices.
Wireless internet connection instructions
1.   Please ensure your device has the wireless connection enabled. Connect to any Freedom network connection that appears the strongest. 
2.   Please enter your User ID and Password – your log on passwords are located on the framed page on your dining room table.

If you have trouble connecting, please call reception – (0) from the telephone in your apartment or contact Freedom Internet direct for after-hours assistance 09 281 2970.


Faults

We do our upmost best to ensure all our facilities are maintained to the highest standards. If you discover an appliance or other item in your apartment that is out of order or faulty, please call reception (0).  We will do our best to promptly correct the problem.

Please report any breakages or damages to reception prior to your departure.


Cooking and use of the kitchenette

For your convenience and personal safety, please ensure that you read these instructions before using the kitchenette.  
Prior to cooking, please turn on the overhead range hood and open the windows (do not open the door to the corridor at any time whilst cooking).
Excess steam and smoke can trigger the smoke detectors located in your apartment.  If you accidently set off the fire alarm in your apartment you have 30 seconds to deactivate it.
To deactivate the alarm:
  • Press the FIRE ALARM SILENCE Button located next to the apartment door.
  • Do not open the door to the hallway as this will trigger the main fire alarm and will force an evacuation of the entire building.
  • Call reception (0) to advise it was in fact a false alarm.
Cooking fragrant or odorous foods is prohibited in apartments.
Cooking food that contains curry or other strong spices, fish, and/or is predominantly oil-based, results in strong cooking odours which permeate through hallways and other areas of the property. These odours are also absorbed into apartment furnishings and are very challenging to remove.
 
If you cook fragrant food in your room you will be required to pay for furnishings (carpet, cushions, bedding, etc.) to be professionally cleaned, deodorised, and/or replaced and potentially a nightly tariff until the apartment is able to be re let.

Kitchenette Applicances

 All microwaves, cook-tops (hobs), and refrigerators have safety isolating switches located on the wall in the kitchenette.  When you have finished cooking please switch the ‘hob’ switch off.  Please do not switch the refrigerator or microwave off.
